RBS - Mini America?

To say the least, this video annoyed me. It is definitely not pashut.

If you want to live in mini America, why don't you just stay in AMERICA!?
The reasons this video gives to move to Israel are; people speak English, they sell tacos and other American foods, and you don't have to beg relatives to bring you stuff back from America, because you have it all there! I thought the reason to make aliyah is to get away from America...

How many times do you think the Words "america", and "supermarkets" were use synonymously (yes it is a big word)

I have to disagree. While yes people should be able to separate themselves from America, at the end of the day, does it really matter they prefer American Special K to Israeli Special K. The availability of these products take away one more thing that might prohibit someone from making aliyah. Makes it a easier transition for families.

While yes I can see where you are coming from it seems that you are telling people its either America or Israel. What's wrong with having some Fruity Pebbles? Must one have bad Israeli cereal. If someone enjoys living in Isreal but enjoys the American based products then whats the problem. If they want to speak English, let them speak English. Everyone should speak Yiddish anyways. RBS is a very Pashut place. Your only jealous.

I will have to disagree as well...When we say how we are going to Israel to get away from America we are getting away from the immorality and corruption of America. There is nothing about yishuv ha'aretz that requires us to start wearing sandles and eating bad tasting meat and accept a lower lifestyle. Sometimes its memeila that we will have to downgrade our way of life to move to Eretz Yisral, but there is NOTHING wrong with keeping our lifestyle while living in our homeland. It really grinds my gears when people are looked down upon for moving to Israel and still holding on to America in kosher ways- and im not talking about bringing your TV and secular magazines and novels with you- its pashut u hafta leave those in Amreica. Moving to Eretz Yisrael is a great thing!! Why must we try to take anything away from those who are brave enough to actually do it-especially when we are still here staring at our computer screen here in Shmutz La'aretz!!-cmon MM!! This aint Pashut!!

You are missing my point. I am not trying to rip aliyah. I am simply disagreeing with this particular videos viewpoint. This video is saying - make aliyah, and move to our community because it is just like America, in fact it is "Mini-America!" There was no other reason given in this video to move to RBS, besides any of the silly reasons I mentioned before. I'm sorry, but when I saw the opening title of this video I cringed. Why are you calling the place I love Mini-America!?

Yes, I do think it is great that you can move to the Holy Land and still have some of the comforts you had in galus. It makes for an easier transition and a better way to get used to the Israeli culture.
It's not Israel or bust, but to try and convince people to move to a neighborhood because of all the American products they have, without mentioning any of the other amazing REAL reasons to move, c'mon, that is just a little ridiculous and aint so pashut...
